Following a frenzied, sold-out and critically-lauded 2022 run at the Playground Theatre, Rehab, the exceptionally-funny, darkly-comic musical, is ready, once again, to sweep you up on an emotional journey through the soaring highs, and tragic lows, of the ‘guests’ of the Glade Rehab Centre – this time at an exciting new venue, Neon 194, 194 Piccadilly, St. James’s, London W1J 9LN from January 12, 2024.

Press night: Wednesday 17 January at 7.30pm

It’s 1999 and jaded 26-year-old pop star, Kid Pop, finds himself in court after being caught red-handed in a drug fuelled tabloid sting. An understanding judge gives Kid the choice between jail time or a rehabilitation centre for six weeks. It’s a no-brainer for Kid: rehab will be a holiday. But how could he have got it so wrong?

A very funny musical about a very serious topic, Rehab deals with the subject of addition and mental health with warmth, humour and heart, written by people who understand it from the inside out.

Written by Grant Black, Murray Lachlan Young and Elliot Davis and starring Keith Allen (Comic Strip Presents, The Pembrokeshire Murders), Christian Maynard (Miss Saigon, & Juliet), Maiya Quansah Breed (Six) and Jodie Steele (Heathers The Musical), with soul diva Mica Paris – no introduction necessary – Rehab balances hilarious comedy with heart-breaking truth, a stunning musical score brilliantly accompanying a timeless story – that of striving to change our lives for the better, one day at a time.

The cast also includes: John Barr (Rehab, Playground Theatre), Carly Burns (Blood Brothers), Oscar Conlon-Morrey (Only Fools and Horses the Musical and Ian McKellen’s Mother Goose), Ben Mabberley (Hollyoaks, Tarantino Live!), Simon Shorten (Jean Valjean in Les Miserables, Phantom in Phantom of the Opera, Miss Trunchbull in Matilda) and Rebecca Thornhill (Mama Rose in Gypsy at The Mill at Sonning - Best Musical 2023 UK Theatre Awards).

The future depends on what you do today!

The Playground Theatre, West London, September 2022

Our new innovative British musical is set to bring a powerful message to London audiences later this year. Darkly comic with characters you don’t immediately expect to sympathise with, you’ll find yourself swept up in an emotional journey with thumpingly memorable songs that you’ll be humming on your way home.

It’s 1999 and an understanding Judge gives 26-year old pop star Kid Pop a choice of punishment for being caught red-handed in a drug-fuelled tabloid sting. He can choose between six weeks in Rehab or jail. It’s a no-brainer, Rehab will be like a holiday!

But Kid has no idea what lies in store for him at The Glade Rehab Centre. Each of the ‘guests’ at The Glade have their own sordid stories of addiction, desperation and a belief that they will turn their lives around and leave as better people. The brutal honesty, secrets and broken souls suggest a different ending.

Pole-dancer Lucy can see through Kid Pop’s show-business veneer but will her own darkness plunge them both into a life-threatening dilemma? Will Kid’s business manager, Malcolm, weedle his way into Rehab to make a financial killing out of his client’s situation? Can Kid Pop trust anyone, will he find true friendship …or even love?

Balancing dark comedy with an eclectic musical score, this timeless story is about us all: changing our lives for the better, one day at a time.

Rehab is raw, energetic, soulful and cathartic. Everyone is searching for love, peace, serenity and a slightly better fish pie!

Our exceptional production is a social statement on addiction and the desperation and sadness that sweeps over people of all ages, genders and backgrounds.

*Over a quarter of a million of us are in contact with drug and alcohol services every single year, in theUK.  Between April 2020 and March 2021,T 130,490 people who actively entered treatment.
